　　My works are not portraits in the traditional sense of the word. I am just drawing upon some human figures to express my state of mind at different stages of my life. From the earlier stage of passion, acuteness and sensitivity to the more recent peacefulness, fantasy and ease are but my self-knowledge. Of course, these are more about my understanding of painting. I don’t think it matters whether what I am doing is really portraiture or not. I am more concerned about those relatively unimportant things rather than the important matters in life and art. Portrait painting as a genre is perhaps one of those unimportant things. I am just drawing upon some human figures to express my state of mind at different stages of my life.
