　　The oil painting we talk about today is a concept of the past. It is the cultural appraisal of a given fact. Its techniques of expression, its understanding of material, its reflectiveness and aesthetic are all interpreted on the basis of cultural appraisal. Everything that unfolds in front of our eyes at present will be a brand new phenomenon. What we’re supposed to express needs also to be executed with a brand new approach. This is perhaps no longer confined to reflections on the ways of making oil painting, and should be extended to the entire field of painting, to the category of graphic expressivity. I am more comfortable thinking in a painterly way, since the process of painting always brings about pleasant surprises. This is where the charm of painting lies, and perhaps the reason why I am so enamoured by it.
